Narrowly trigonal, compressed, thin-walled, pale orange to amber, smooth or with 8-12 weak radial ridges occasionally with scattered inrolled spines; interior with central radial ridge most conspicuous anteriorly, ventral lobe of nacreous layer equal to or longer than dorsal lobe. North Carolina to Florida, Bermuda.
Pinna carnea is known as the Razor Shell in the Bahamas, reflecting its typical in situ posture with its sharp posterior edges protruding from the sand.
