Anadara uropigimelana (Bory de St. Vincent, 1824)
12-60 mm. -> Smooth-feeling surface, multiple fine striae running down the anterior ribs. Narrow interstices, weak densely spaced, extremely fine concentric striae across ribs. (36 mm)
Distribution: Locally common in the northern Gulf of Aqaba and muddy areas just north of Hurghada and in the far south. Not found in the Gulf of Suez. Notes: Sometimes the most central of the striae is deeper than the others, which can cause confusion with A. antiquata. A. uropigimelana is always smoother, and never has strong nodulose cross bars on and between the ribs.
