Recent studies let us believe that this species and C. tenuisculpta. having got a really similar form and sculpture, have to be considered as two different species for the variety of the protoconch sculpture, which in candidissima is a little bit bigger and has got (for half whorl) a sculpture made by 7-8 axial ribs, while in tenuisculpta there are 17-20 axial ribs distributed upon one spiral whorl. CLEMAM thinks the two species are conspecific ones. The Mediterranean specimens are usually white milk-as in colour, rarely pale yellow. The average measures overcome one centimetre just a little bit. As far as this species is concerned, only the adult imaged shell is represented.

Common all over the Mediterranean, more frequent along Morocco and Algeria coasts. It prefers the rocky bottoms of the infralittoral. It is found under the stones too.
