Noemiamea dolioliformis
Habitat: it lives in the infralittoral zone and it is a parasite of polichetes tubicolous (Sabellaria sp.).
Distribution: it is pointed out in many localities of the Mediterranean. Never common, found at Calambrone beach, to the North of Leghorn (Tuscany - Italy).
Notes: this species has an outline and a sculpture making it easily recognizable from any other Pyramidellidae of the Mediterranean. Shell oval in outline, spiral short and whorls convex, the last one of which is more than 2/3 of total height, suture broad and canaliculated. Sculpture made by spiral grooves close and homogeneous all over surface crossed by thin growth striae. Aperture oval in form, columella arched showing one tooth quite broad in the upper part. Umbilicus wide and deep. External lip showing one fold in its medium-high part. Uniform white in colour. Average measures of adult specimens are around 1.5-2 mm in height.
