AS : Leucotina fulva (Adams):
Distinctive features are 1) oblong-ovate shell attaining 20 mm in height, 2) protoconch small, umboniform of 2 whorls, largely immersed in the first teleoconch whorl, 3) spire whorls gently convex, with an exceedingly narrow but distinct subsutural shelf, 4) body whorl ovate-cylindrical, about 50% of total height; base imperforate, 5) aperture oval; parietal lip forming an angle of about 135° with the columella, which is straight, slightly oblique and bears an obsolete fold on its upper part, 6) sculpture of spiral bands, 7 per whorl, separated by narrow furrows; 18 spirals occur on the body whorl, the most abapical finer. We provisionally assign the present species to the genus Leucotina Adams, 1860, on the basis of the lack of collabral riblets in the spiral furrows. Leucotina fulva differs from Leucotina dianae (Adams, 1855) in that has less inflated shell and less convex whorls.
DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT. Leucotina fulva is distributed in the Indo-Pacific, from the Red Sea to the Philippines and Japan; it has recently entered the Mediterranean via the Suez Canal. It seems to be a shallow water element. FOSSIL RECORDS. Holocene of Thailand.
