This is a very characteristic species due to its slim shape and to its whorls convex with carinae prominent crossed by axial ribs ma¬king some tubercles. The last whorl has two carinae, besides the peripherical one. The base has one spiral little cord smooth placed between the peripherical cord and the columellar one. Broad suture. External lip roundish, with varix. smooth internally. Protoconch with very fine spiral striae. It can be confused with A. spinosa and A. tessellata only. It can be recognized from the first one since it is slimmer, less solid, the last whorl has two carinae (one only as far as spinosa is concerned) besides the peripherical one, while from the second one, tessellata, it can be recognized since it is remarkably smaller, thinner and with a less strong sculpture. Moreover tessellata is missing of basal carina. The colour pattern is really changeable. From white to dark brown in monochromy. There can be often present either some streaks or spots. The average measures are around 2.5 mm.
