Popis

Austromitra analogica: A. analogica, more fusiform-elongate than ovately oblong, shell to 13.1 mm, protoconch of 2 smooth, glassy brown whorls, teleoconch of 5 to 6 whorls, shell solid, with 10-14 strong axial ribs on the early whorls. Early whorls noticeably convex. Body whorl with 0 to 17 axial ribs, in adult shells the axial ribs may become obsolete on the body whorl. Shell sculpture smooth except for microscopic axial growth lines and repair scars. Aperture open, slightly flared, outer lip is thin, smooth and gently curved, usually lirate within, columellar folds number 4, rarely only 3. Siphonal fasciole straight with 5 to 8 wide flat spiral cords, all cords are oblique with respect to the shell axis, often with a leading edge (apex side), which is round, the cords sometimes rounded on the dorsal side of the shell. Colour pattern of a wide brown band below the suture, a central white band at the periphery of the body whorl, another wide brown band, usually the widest band, located just above the aperture line to 3 to 5 mm above the first columellar fold, another narrow white or cream coloured band forms from 3 to 5 mm above the first columellar fold. Within the band, there is at least one round spiral cord, the colour band ends as the cord emerges from the first columellar fold, finally the siphonal fasciole tip is brown. In live collected specimens, the base colour is dark chocolate brown, with 2 bands of yellow or faded white zones on the body whorl. The interior of the outer lip reflects the same colour pattern as the body whorl. The lirations are strong and prominent in adult specimens only.

Možné záměny

Austromitra analogica: This species has been the dumping ground of the many southern Australian species of Austromitra. It is uncommon in collections. It is distinguished by the three broad chocolate brown bands and strong axial sculpture.
