Shell rather small for the genus, thin shelled but solid. The holotype measures 11.8 mm in length and has a width of 5.5 mm. The paratype measures 19.8 mm. Shape cylindrical, with a spire that takes about 1/4 of the total shell height. Protoconch very small and white, of the same color as the spire. The suture is deeply incised. Body whorl very large, smooth on top, especially near the suture, but as one descends to the lower part of the body whorl, a fine sculpture appears that becomes stronger and forming spiral grooves, very tiny, towards the base. The shell is slightly translucent, with a dirty white overall color but on the body whorl a purple color appears. This purple color is especially pronounced below the suture and on the lower part of the body whorl. The purple shines through inside the aperture all over the length of the aperture. There is one discrete columellar fold with a false umbilicus. The lower lip is slightly crenulate. The paratype is almost entirely identical to the holotype, apart from the bigger size and the coloration. While the pattern is the same: dark band below the suture and above the lower part of the body whorl, the base color is not whitish but more yellowish. The outer lip is entirely smooth.

The West African coast has a small number of ACTEONIDAE:
* Acteon maltzani P. Dautzenberg, 1910
From Senegal is very small and has a huge spire. That species was well documented by E. Rolan in 2005.
* Acteon semisculptus E.A. Smith, 1890 from Saint Helena is only 4 mm in length and has a round shape.
* Acteon senegalensis (S.A. Petit de la Saussaye, 1851) Recorded from Senegal and Gambia is all white and slender. A shell has been figured by R. Ardovini & T. Cossignani (2004) but it measures 4 mm. Drawings by M. Nickles (1950) and H.A. Pilsbry (1893) show shells of 17 and 18 mm in length, very slender also.
* Acteon tornatiJis (C Linnaeus, 1758) From Europe, has been recorded from Senegal (M. Nickles, 1950) and Morocco, Agadir (R. Ardovini & T. Cossignani, 2004).
* Rapturella globulina (E. Forbes, 1844) From the Cape Verde Islands is round in shape and minuscule.
The present new species adds one more species to the West African ACTEONIDAE. Because the shape, but not the texture, colors and size, are similar to the type of the genus Acteon: tornatilis. I want to point out that A. maltzani and A. semisculptus deserve a proper genus, as they do not fit very well in "Acteon".

KNOWN MATERIAL AND LOCALITIES
At present only known from the holotype and one paratype, here described. The holotype was dredged in sand in Baia de Corimba, Luanda, Angola. The paratype has been found in Cacuaco Bay, Luanda, Angola.
TYPE MATERIAL
Holotype 11.8 mm in height. (1296882). Coll. PI. Paratype 119.6 mm in height. (214186).
Coll. S. Hubrecht. The paratype we obtained about 2 decades ago from the Coll. A. Arthur.
TYPE LOCALITY
Angola. Luanda. Baia de Corimba.
DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT
The holotype and the paratype have been collected only a few km from each other, respectively in Baia de Corimba, and Cacuaco Bay, the latter bay being slightly north of Corimba. The holotype was dredged on a sandy bottom, between 5 and 10 m.
