The shape of the shell is narrowly conic; 1 nuclear whorl, the remaining 5 rather globular, with deeply impressed sutures. The aperture is long, but the outer lip is broken. The surface is marked by axial ribs, about 16 on the penultimate whorl. The colour is pale brown, with a lighter band near the centre of the whorls; and the size 14x4,5 mm. Characteristics. Near the last, but rather narrower, with more globular whorls, and of a lighter colour. I have a good many small shells, about 4-6 mm.,which I suppose are the young of this species, though they look as if they were full -grown.
