E. maraisi is a rare species which has been found intertidally in Transkei, South Africa. It attains a maximum size of at least 10mm. There are about 6 1/2 convex teleoconch whorls with 14-16 low, thin costae and up to 11 spiral threads per whorl. The costae are not peaked and the suture is narrowly open. The umbilicus is open, the aperture is oval and the outer lip is thin. The shell is white. There are at least 3 protoconch whorls.
It can be distinguished from E. antisoa (Iredale, 1936) by being less elongate and by having an open suture.
