Epitonium laidlowi: 13mm. Thin, high spired with protoconch of about 3 glossy whorls. Spire whorls bear thin, well developed, curved ribs (about 25 on last whorl) elevated at shoulder and interleaving with each other at sutures. Crowded spiral threads between and continued onto ribs. No umbilicus. Aperture elongate. White. Habitat: offshore. Distribution: Gulf of Oman.

Epitonium (Parviscala) laidlawi (Melvill & Standen, 1903) (Fig. 221) This species has been found in shallow water in the Persian Gulf and the Maldives. It reaches a maximum size of about 13mm. There are approximately 15-20 costae which are occasionally thickened, with about 12 strong spiral threads per whorl. It is a slender species with about 7-8 relatively flat-sided teleoconch whorls. The costae are slightly peaked below the suture giving whorls a stepped appearance. The suture is closed and the aperture is oval.
