Antillophos nigroliratus: Phos nigroliratum Habe, 1961: 61, app. 21, pi. 31, fig. 9. Type locality: Japan, Aichi Prefecture, off Isshiki, Enshu-Nada, 110 m deep.
This beautiful species is characterized by a peculiar elongate shape with a high spire and a rather broad body whorl, in combination with about 9 red brown spiral lines. Towards the penultimate whorl the spiral cords become angulate, the abapical slope broader and gently rising, giving the shell a serrated outline. Towards the body whorl the spiral cords become even more flattened.
RANGE
From southern Japan to the Philippines. Locally common in deep water.
COMPARISON
All other species decorated with fine red brown spirals A. (A.) elegantissimum Hayashi & Habe, 1965, A. (A.) lucubratonis and A. (A.) dedonderi differ by the broader shape and much shorter spire.
