Melvill (1918: 148) described: Fossarus eutorniscus from Karachi, Pakistan (NMW n°lb-051). Janssen, Zuschin & Baal (2011: 442) proposed a new systematic position in the genus Conradia because due to its main shell features it looked rather similar to other species assigned to that genus described from Japan and figured by Okutani (2000: p. 83, Pl. 41). However, it cannot be identified with either of these. Rubio, Rolan & Fernandez-Garces (2015) considered Parviturbo dibellai a junior synonym of F. eutorniscus and based on the morphological characters of its protoconch, they concluded that F. eutorniscus was a vitrinellid although the general shape of its teleoconch, the ornamentation and the microsculpture resemble those of the Parviturbo genus. The protoconch of F. eutorniscus has 1.5 whorls, is smooth and develops in two phases; it has probably a planktotrophic development, which would justify the wide distribution of the species (From Karachi to Madagascar). It seems a more typical protoconch of a vitrinellid than a vetigastropod, however, the presence of rounded spiral ridge that borders and delimits the umbilicus, and the columella, with an anterior channel at the base and a shallow anterior notch (characters present in other species recently described as Crosseola marquesensis Rubio & Rolan, 2017; Crosseola madagascarensis Rubio & Rolan, 2017 and Crosseola ordinata Rubio & Rolan, 2017) make us to think that it could be a crosseolid.
