Shell up to 18.75 mm in length with 1.5-1.75 protoconch whorls and 6 teleoconch whorls. Protoconch large, globose, smooth. Whorls rounded. Axial sculpture of last teleoconch whorl with 6 high, rounded, strong varices. Spiral sculpture of primary and secondary cords, and weak threads. Aperture broad, roundly-ovate. Outer lip smooth with 5 low denticles within. Columellar lip narrow, smooth, partially erect abapically, adherent adapically. Siphonal canal short, straight, open.
Greyish-white, covered by a thick, relatively smooth, ivory-white or light tan intritacalx. Aperture white.

The subgenus Takia is currently known from five recent species: Dermomurex africanus Vokes, 1978, from South Africa, D. bobyini (Kosuge, 1984) from the Philippine Islands, D. infrons Vokes, 1974. from Japan and South Africa, D. myrakeenae (Emerson & D'Attilio, 1970) from Mexico, Eastern Pacific, and D. warreni Houart, 1990, from New Caledonia. In addition, there are several fossil species in the Western Atlantic (Vokes, 1992). D. gofasi is the first record of a living species of Takia in the Eastern Atlantic.
