Shell elongate-ovate, height 28.1 mm. width 13.2 mm. Protoconch approximately 3 1/2 whorls, last 1/3 whorl carinate. Teleoconch of 7 ribbed whorls. Suture widely ledged and canaliculate. Penultimate whorl with approximately 30 axial ribs; body whorl with 25-30 ribs, getting progressively less pronounced on dorsum. 6-7 spiral cords on penultimate whorl. Spiral grooves between axial and spiral ribs deep. Body whorl with about 10 spiral cords, also less pronounced on dorsum. 6-7 strong, over-riding basal cords. Subsutural groove deep, resulting in strong nodules on all postnuclear whorls. Siphonal area with 5 cords. Aperture oval, outer lip not variced; with 6-7 blunt denticles anteriorly and 10-12 lirae inside. Anal canal extremely deep. Columellar callus margined, thin, unevenly plicate and thickening towards anal canal. Parietal denticle strong. Colour uniformly creamish-yellowish. Operculum not available. There is a great variability in size of fullgrown specimens, ranging from 21.7-30.3mm. The ribs on the body whorl occasionally become lower or even obsolete. Some specimens have a faint yellow subsutural, peripheral and basal band.

Nassarius coriolis can be compared with N. siquijorensis (A. Adams. 1852). The latter may also have a channeled suture, but it has numerous finer and regular ribs over the whole body whorl. The callus is also spread slightly wider over the body whorl and is more or less laminated anteriorly. It occursbin much shallower water than the new species.

Type locality: Philippines. Habitat: On grey clay at a depth of 205-214 m.
