Closely related to N. cruentata, but the shell more lengthened, the last whorl less convex between suture and periphery, yellowish white with blackish-brown blotches above the periphery on part of the ribs, and dark dashes on the spirals towards the base. Nucleus conic, of three smooth, convex whorls. Sculpture of spiral cords, seven on the penult whorl, the subsutural cord larger; ten ribs on the last whorl. Five teeth within the outer lip are quite small. About two weak wrinkles discernible on the columellar lip. Length 5 mm., diam. 2.1 mm. The color pattern varies individually. A mutation is apricot colored with a dark apex, otherwise uniform or with a few dusky stains placed as described above, or the ribs and spirals may be suffused with chestnut. The operculum is lightly marked with incremental lines.
