Shell to 90.0 mm in length, fusiform-elongate and solid, teleoconch of 9 weakly convex whorls, protoconch unknown, sutures distinct but not deep. Sculptured with irregular and unequal spiral threads which number 40-45 on the body whorl and about 18-20 on the penultimate whorl; the spiral cords are very variable, some being broader and flatter than others in some individuals; interspaces of cords either finely axially striate or pitted, but almost smooth in some specimens, and fine, close-set and somewhat obsolete longitudinal growth-striae override spiral cords and interspaces. Aperture about equal in height to the spire, narrow and elongate, smooth within, edge of outer lip thickened and simple; columella with 5 oblique folds, siphonal fasciole calloused, moderately straight or slightly recurved. Uniformly creamy-white in color under a thin, black periostracum. Some juvenile specimens show patches of a brown color.
