Fenimorea halidorema: This beautifully colored shell is fusiform, with an elongated spire, one and one-half nuclear whorls, which are smooth, convex and opaque white (worn). It has nine whorls, well marked suture, a faintly pinkish-white above the shoulder and at the base, lower half of whorls of the spire and the middle of last whorl marked with a wide cinnamon-rufous band, somewhat faded on the heavy, rounded axial ribs. The band on the body whorl is continuous over the ten axial ribs. In some specimens there is a fainter band of geranium pink fading into white, instead of all white from the dark band to the base. The aperture is about one-third the length of the shell, elongate-oval, the columella white, with strong, reflected callus, a short, shallow anterior canal, the posterior canal deeply incised, with the parietal callus forming a tubercle on the columellar side of the aperture. There is a stronger varix behind the outer lip. Length 25.5 mm., breadth 9.5mm.

Shell fusiform, medium sized (to 30.8 mm), truncated anteriorly with a tall spire, last whorl about 56% of total length. Whorls convex, number up to 11,75, angled, shoulder slightly concave; suture appressed, undulant over ribs of preceding whorl. Protoconch usually eroded, but apparent in juveniles as 2,25-2,5 smooth whorls, diameter of the 1st and 2nd protoconch whorls and lsl teleoconch whorl nearly equal, increase only slightly, so the shell apex appears somewhat acuminate as the whorls expand rapidly afterwards. Axial sculpture of strong, well defined slightly opisthocline ribs, usually broader than interspaces, crests slightly ridged, more so on last whorl; with angular shoulders; ribs rapidly decline on shoulder to suture; evanesce on lower shell base. Very fine growth striae present, crescent shaped on shoulder reflecting outline of anal sinus. Varix straight (unlike ribs) higher, wider, and with a round crest unlike preceding ribs, not hump-shaped, approximately 1/4-turn from edge of the outer lip. Spiral sculpture consists of a microsculpture of fine, microscopic spiral grooves, closely packed in sets of 2-6, with slightly larger spaces between sets, the wider spaces appearing as larger, flattened threads, and all' made somewhat wavy by intersecting growth striae. Sulcus not distinct; ribs low on shoulder, which is slightly concave. Outer lip thin, flattened from varix to lip edge, with 1 or more axial folds or raised flanges. Lip edge smooth, not serrated, forming a low to flat arc from anal sinus to stromboid notch, which is shallow but distinct. Anal sinus deep, on shoulder but not adjoining suture, apex round, inner edge of sinus flared upward; sinus somewhat constricted by parietal callus. Inner lip thin on parietal wall, thicker elsewhere, successive layers of deposition show on thick edges; recumbent on parietal wall but somewhat raised on canal; developed into a strong parietal lobe posteriorly. Anterior canal short, narrow, twisted slightly to the right viewed ventrally; notched. Anterior fasciole with spiral threads, fasciole swollen on mature individuals. Color white to yellowish white with two brown bands usually interrupted by the ribs: the uppermost thin and darkest, the lower wider, lighter; a pink to rose flush present to varying degrees and intensity in or below the wider band to the anterior fasciole, which is white, and on upper shoulder at suture.

Fenimorea halidorema: This shell greatly resembles Fenimorea janetae Bartsch, but does not have the fine sculptural lineations of the latter, being smooth between the ribs. Also it seems to be slightly smaller, with fewer axial ribs.

This species has been reported as Fenimorea halidorema since Schwengel published its description in 1940. Kilburn et al. (2014: 28) stated that Decoradrillia pulchella (Reeve, 1845) was mistakenly confused with Clavus bilineatus (Reeve, 1845), an Indo-Pacific species, by earlier authors but shown to be a different species by Wells (1991). They state correctly that D. pulchella may be an earlier name of the western Atlantic E halidorema, a correct assertion that is formalized here. Clavus bilineatus was erroneously synonymized with D. pulchella by Tryon (1884: 186). Curiously, "Pleurotoma" pulchella Reeve was included in the list of West Indian marine shells published by Krebs (1864) but no vouchers remain for verification, and the name was subsequently lost to taxonomists. Taxonomy. Decoradrillia pulchella (Reeve, 1845) has all of the distinguishing characteristics of the genus: a shell surface microsculpture of a repeating pattern of microscopic spiral threads with groups of finer ones between, well rounded axial ribs that run from suture-to-suture, with a narrow sulcus, and a high, convex varix that is not hump-like. It lacks the more widely spaced spiral grooves and growth striae that form rows of pits that are characteristic of Fenimorea, and the low ribs and more distinct sulcus of that genus. Variability. The average total length of 145 measured specimens is 17.53 mm (2.2-30.8 mm); their average W/L is 0.419. Fully developed specimens (completely formed varix and anal sinus) as small as 15.5 mm occur; the difference (15.5 versus 30.8 mm) may reflect differences in environmental conditions. Color patterns are also variable, the brown spiral line and band may coalesce into a single wider band, or there may only be a single spiral line in some individuals. Identification. Decoradrillia pulchella (as Fenimorea halidorema Schwengel, 1940) was considered a likely synonym of Fenimorea janetae Bartsch, 1934 by Ode (1991c: 23), but that is clearly not the case. Fenimorea janetae is larger, has more but weaker ribs, and is a chestnut-brown color, not brown, pink and rose. The shell microsculpture and pattern of coloration also differ. Decoradrillia festiva, new species is very similar, differing in possessing rounder rib shoulders, a different color pattern, and is of a slightly smaller size. Decoradrillia colorea, new species, has less angular shoulders and rib crests that are round, not slightly ridged.

Fenimorea halidorema: The author dredged this shell off Palm Beach in April 1939, but had only dead specimens. It was named at that time, but not described until the better shell was dredged by T. L. McGinty in july, 1940, off Palm Beach, in 60 fms.
