The first record of this species from the New Caledonia region. Mitrella maestratii differs from Mitrella longissima in the presence of extended denticles in the aperture, its multispiral protoconch and colour pattern. It is closest to M. brunnealineata, but differs in the larger size, the number of basal cords, the more bulbous whorls and the straight suture.
