Distribution. South Africa (Cape), 1024-2743 m; Southern Madagascar, 821 -910 m; Mozambique Channel, 996-1410 m; north-western Madagascar, 850-1125 m; East Africa (Aden), 1840 m; southern India, 1331 m; central Indonesia, 918-2029 m.
Diagnosis. The main characteristics of this species are height up to 32.5 mm, a width up to 31 mm, an elevated spire (height 1.05 x to 1.2 x width) with a conical shape and a rounded periphery, a teleoconch up to 8 convex whorls, 3(4) spiral cords (P1; P3; S1; [Tl]), a moderately convex base with 4 granular spiral cords, a rather wide and deep umbilicus (about 30% of shell width) without spiral cords and with thin axial threads, a brownish beige colour.
