Popis
45mm. High spired with small protoconch (not available for study). Spire whorls, all widely disconnected, bear widely spaced, recurved, slightly oblique ribs (about 9 on last whorl) sometimes connected to each other at sutures. Smooth and glossy between ribs. Umbilicus wide, virtually reaching to protoconch. Pinkish to violet-brown with white ribs and peristome. A small squat form occurs occasionally. Syn: Scala pretiosa (Lamarck, 1816) sensu Melvill & Standen, 1901:354; Epitonium pallasii (Kiener, 1838) sensu Melvill & Standen, 1903a:345, Bosch & Bosch, 1982:51, and Smythe, 1982:50. Habitat: offshore and beached. Distribution: Persian Gulf, Gulf of Oman.
