The species seems to be extremely rare and I was able to examine only a single specimen. The South American C. larranagai appears to be a relic of the European Miocene C. scrobiculata scrobiculata (Brocchi) and bears a close resemblance to the living W. African C. scrobiculata crosnieri Cernohorsky.
