Shell to 45.0 mm in length, fusiform-elongate, some individuals very slender, teleoconch of 8.5-9.5 convex or slightly sub-angulate whorls, protoconch missing in specimens examined. Sculptured with spiral cords which are bisected by close-set longitudinal grooves which form small, elongate beads, penultimate whorl with 6-11 spiral rows and body whorl with 19-29 rows of beads; the sculpture, however, is very variable, the cords are irregular, some are very fine and situated in the interspaces while in some individuals the cords on the center of the body whorl are replaced by deep grooves. Aperture equal in height or shorter than the spire, narrow and elongate, smooth within, columella narrowly calloused and with 3-4 oblique folds, siphonal canal straight. Yellowish-brown to brown in color, sometimes with additional white axial streaks, rare individuals purple-brown, aperture brown, oblique folds, siphonal canal straight. Yellowish-brown to brown in color, sometimes with additional white axial streaks, rare individuals purple-brown, aperture brown, columella flesh colored and occasionally with an orange tinge. Periostracum thin and straw colored.
