Shell to 27.0 mm in length, fusiform-elongate, whorls convex but tending to be subangulate at the presutural ramp, teleoconch of 6.5-7.5 whorls, protoconch of 3.5-4 conical, smooth embryonic whorls. Post-embryonic whorls with 3 granulose spiral cords, penultimate whorl with 4-5 cords, body whorl with 15-20 cords; interspaces of cords moderately broad and containing 1-2 fine, slender, intermediate spiral threads. Spiral cords are bisected by moderately wide-spaced, deep axial grooves which form laterally elongated fillets. Aperture longer than the spire, smooth within, columella narrowly calloused and with 4-5 folds, outer lip bluntly crenulate. White in color, spire whorls with a narrow purplish-brown to reddish-brown transverse band tight against sutures, body whorl with a broad band of the same color and occasional short axial streaks reaching up from the band; all main spiral cords have small, dark brown spots, and the aperture a broad reddish-brown band.
