Laevichlamys ruschenbergerii (Tryon, 1869)
9-45 mm. —> Plain maroon shell with numerous narrow ribs and very narrow tall erect scales the same maroon color as the shell. The scales never extend across the entire breadth of the ribs. Umbonal area may be white. Juveniles bright orange. (48 mm) Distribution: Rare. Gulf of Aqaba and Safaga.
Notes: Most specimens have a stylized lotus pattern on the umbo thar appears to be made of tiny cracks. Magnification may be needed to see it. Laevichlamys ruschenbergerii always has more and narrower ribs than L. superficialis. It may have an occasional white scale, but they are almost always dark maroon. See below.
