DISTRIBUTION: Described by Thiele from Gauss Station (89°E), this species has been recorded only once subsequently, from 139°E (170-180 m) by Arnaud (1972). It is not uncommon in line sediments in the Ross Sea in 342-870 m.
REMARKS: On the whole the Ross Sea specimens referred to L. strebeli have the spirals on the base much more closely confined to the umbilical area than is shown in Thiele's figure of the type.
