Shell small, conical, colour very variable, may be fawn, brown, golden, grey; imperforate. Spire about half the length of shell. Whorls not rounded, at the lower edge flattened out into a flange or rim, this feature being very pronounced on the body-whorl. Sculpture consisting of irregular, longitudinal striae just below the sutures, and numerous, concentric, more or less imbricating ridges very distinct at the slightly convex base. Interior nacreous. Aperture transversely ovate, outer lip acute, channelled at the outer angle; columella very broad; operculum solid, calcareous. Size: 1 inch.
