Cantharidus ramburi: Shell generally crimson, with narrow, whitish flames on the upper surface. Spire long. Whorls slightly concave below the sutures. Whole surface finely spirally lirate. Aperture oval, iridescent within. Size: 0,75 inch.

Crimson Top Shell. Shell conical, whorls subangulate; crimson with white axial rays; whorls seven, flattened, with a tendency to swell above the suture and at the periphery of the body whorl which is roundly subangulate and a little deflected at the aperture; whorls encircled by numerous rather coarse lirae; aperture rhomboidal, less than half the total length of the shell; peristome thin, acute, edged by a row of red dots; slightly crenately thickened within; columella vertical, concave, smooth, not truncate at the base, marked with crimson at the outer base. Diameter 11 mm., height 15 mm.

Cantharidus ramburi: Though small, it is nevertheless an ornate form. It is quite common on the beaches and in rock-pools, living examples being obtained on floating seaweeds. A frequent shell in South and Western Australia.
