Reddish-brown colored shell, with a high spire having over 11 slightly convex whorls, each having three spiral cords crossed by axial grooves, forming nodules. The base presents three smooth, delicate spiral cords. Aperture with a smooth, fine lip. Can be differentiated from the other species of the family, which lack cords at the base.

From 46ºS in Estero Elefantes (Reid & Osorio 2000) to Magellan, Falkland/Malvinas Islands (Thiele 1912), and Burdwood Bank (Powell 1951) from 8 to 313 m depth; also on the shores of Río de la Plata (Carcelles & Williamson 1951). The present record constitutes the northernmost site (43ºS).
