O. bairdii was found off the coast of western Africa. The holotype is 15mm in height. The shell is bluish-white with about 6 teleoconch and 3 smooth protoconch whorls. About 10 thickened ribs can be seen on the body whorl. The surface of the shell is pitted. The sutures are crenulated and the base of the body whorl is angled. It lacks a basal ridge. The aperture is oval and the outer lip is rounded. The operculum is brown.
This species should be compared to O. pumilio from the western Atlantic and O. hellenica.
