Habitat: mainly it lives in the infralittoral zone, on hard substrata, even in very low depth. Distribution: it was collected along the coasts of Turkey, Israel and Cyprus, where it is common enough. Imaged shells: all of them were found at Yumurtalik, Gulf of Iskendeain, Turkey, at 8-10 m depth.
Notes: this species had a troubled taxonomic story. Shell solid, heavy, knotty but slim, shoulder inclined and a little bit concave. Whorls not much convex, broad suture. Sculpture made by axial ribs (about 10 on the last whorl) quite protuberant and wider than the interspaces, crossed by spiral cords protuberant making, with the axial ribs, some nodules quite clear. Sometimes there are some strong axial varices. The whole surface is crossed by small squamae. Large in aperture, oval in form, with one small parietal tooth, columella clear, adherent, siphonal canal short and open, external lip thickened and denticulated internally. Ground white cream in colour pattern, with some spiral cords dark brown making some visible spots on the nodules. Aperture bright white. Protoconch conic, sharp, with 3.5 whorls smooth and convex. Operculum dark brown, D-shaped. The Mediterranean specimens average measures are around 18-20 mm in height.
