Gibberula lavalleeana (d'Orbigny, 1842) Snowflake Marginella
Distribution: Texas, Florida; West Indies; Bermuda. Size: 4 mm .
Description: Color snow white, translucent in young fresh shells; shape ovate; sculpture smooth and glassy; suture visible through the upper portion of fresh shells; spire short, dome shaped; aperture narrow, long; outer lip flaring on lower 1/3 of shell; edge of outer lip thickened; inner portion of outer lip may or may not be denticulate; columella with well-developed plicae; siphonal notch present.
Habitat: Specimens have been located on muddy bottoms; however, specimens from Texas have come from the FGB, a calcareous environment. Found at depths from shoreline to 73 m (239 ft).
