Description

Diagnostic features are 1) oblong-ovate, rather tall-spired shell up to about 8 mm in height, 2) aperture wide, oval, oblique, outer lip heavily variced, inner lip with thick callus expanded abapically, 3) sculpture of prominent spiral ridges overridden by fine, crowded collabral threads; 3-4 spirals occur on spire whorls, 6 on the body whorl.

Distribution

DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT. Iravadia ornata is known from Burma, Thailand and Hong Kong. It is currently found in brackish water of drainage creeks of mud flats, Nipa and mangrove swamps, and in estuarine areas of rivers, living partly buried in mud, feeding on decaying organic matter (BRANDT, 1974).
