Distribution

Tropical Indo-Pacific; intertidal to 116 m.

Description

Shell color early whorls of yellowish beige or tan, usually with white subsutural band, later whorls tan with oblong white spots below suture; outline of whorls concave; protoconch of 1 1/2 whorls; subsutural band of white nodes separated from a second row of smaller nodes by a moderately deep subsutural groove, band and groove fading completely as oblong white spots appear, leaving only a subsutural swelling; remainder of whorl smooth except for fine axial growth striae; aperture moderately elongate with pinkish beige or yellowish beige interior; columella recurved.

This is one of the species known to have harpoon-shaped radular teeth and a poison sac
