Shell cylindro-conical, of medium size, grey white. Protoconch of three rounded whorls, faint axial riblets appearing on the third whorl. Mature whorls five, slightly rounded, the spire slightly convex, the body whorl long and elongated. Sculpture of narrow axial ribs, sharp and defined on the earlier whorls, about 20 on the penultimate whorl, but tending to divide into fine axial threads on the body whorl, particularly on the base. Spiral sculpture of close threads, slightly granular, coarser on the earlier whorls, finer on the body whorl. Aperture long, more than half the total length, narrow, widening anteriorly, the outer margin with a wide varix its edge reflected over the aperture, with faint entering plications within, the sinus, rounded, moderately deep, arched above the suture. Inner margin straight, smooth within the aperture, canal wide, short and open. Length 14.5 mm., width 5.5 mm., aperture 8.5 mm.

This resembles M. compta in general characters, but it is narrower, the spire longer and less convex, the aperture is relatively shorter and narrower.
