Description

Oblong, inequilateral, widely gaping and curved upwards posteriorly, dull white; anterior side rounded; posterior side truncatedly rounded, subangular at its junction with the up curving ventral margin; antero-dorsal margin straight and parallel with the ventral margin; postero-dorsal margin concave near the umbo, which is slightly prominent; resilifer spoon-like, projecting from the hinge-line; buttressed by a clavicle; sculpture of feeble concentric lirae; interior shining white; pallial sinus rounded. Length 52 mm., height 25 mm., section 16.5 mm. Type locality: Adelaide, in mud at 10 fathoms (Reeve).
Loc: Not common, Gulf St. Vincent to Streaky Bay, down to 10 fathoms. N.W.A., S.A., Tas., Vict., N.S.W.
Remarks: May be taken alive in the Port River, burrowing in mud.
