Distribution

Thracia meridionalis is a common antarctic bivalve extending well north. It is probably circumantarctic around the antarctic continent, extending through the Antarctic Peninsula, South Shetlands, South Orkneys, South Sandwich Islands and South Georgia to the Magellanic region and the Falkland Islands, Kerguelen, Marion and Prince Edward Islands in depths of 5-752 m. It is common in the Ross Sea, where it has a comparable bathymetric range. It appears to be most common in relatively shallow depths (less than 100 m).
