Habitat: this species lives in muddy and sandy bottoms.
Distribution: common enough all over the Mediterranean. It was found in remarkable depths too.

in the several growth stages, there were not noted clear changes in the valves outline. In the young shells it is already evident the typical ornamentation made by oblique streakings covering the whole valve. Comparing it with the similar Saccella commutata, even in the juvenile forms we can easily recognize the different sculpture that in this last species is made by prominent concentric lamellae. The average measures reach 8-10 mm in length.
