Caecum cooperi S. Smith, 1860 Cooper's Caecum
Distribution: South of Cape Cod to Florida, Texas. Size: 4 to 5 mm
Description: Color glossy white; shape toothlike or tusklike, slender and arched; sculpture of prominent longitudinal lirae with fine, thin, smooth almost obscure spiral striations; annular raised rings prominent at aperture, giving cancellate ap¬pearance at anterior end; mucro fairly long and pointed.
Habitat: In sandy bottoms off Texas coast from shoreline to a depth of 73 m (240 ft). Remarks: Similar to C. imbricatum; however, spiral threads are more pronounced and cancellate appearance distinct throughout the shell in C. imbricatum. See Tunnell and Chaney (1970); Ode (1988b). Synonym: C. smithi Cooper, 1872.
