Rather stout, conic-ovate; protoconch of three whorls; adult whorls angulate centrally, penultimate whorl with 2-5 dominant spiral cords, the central one strong and weakly nodulose, numerous striae present in the interspaces; body whorl with an irregular, oblique varix; aperture ovate, outer lip thick, smooth; anterior canal deep but very short, oblique; posterior canal shallow, bordered by a weak parietal plait; columella concave, with a slight callus and weak lip. White, with regular dark brown spots on the ribs tending to align in axial rows; columella purple to violet. 2 cm.

It is quite easy to confuse this little species with Clypeomorus nympha Houbrick. but this shell is not pupate or beaded.
