Costoanachis floridana (Rehder, 1939) Florida Dovesnail
Distribution: North Carolina to Florida, Texas. Size: 12 mm
Description: Color variable from yellowish to white with irregular axial, spiral, and zigzag-type markings of various tones of reddish-brown; shape elongate-conic; sculpture variable, typically of ventricose axial ridges on body whorl and fine spiral threads on convex teleoconch whorls, spiral threads pronounced at base; suture incised; body whorl broad; spire tall, almost half shell length; aperture narrow; inner surface of somewhat thickened outer lip denticulate; columella smooth.
Habitat: On rocks and sand. Found along Texas coastal bays and beaches from shoreline to a depth of 14 m (45 ft).
