Description

This is a extremely wide mitrid (W/L = 0.52 and 0.59) with a convex-sided spire that has about 5 straight sided teleoconch whorls with a prominent suture due to a wide whorl shoulder. The dorsal notch is prominent. Sculpture of at least the last 3 whorls includes two closely spaced spiral cords and narrow, low axial riblets that tend to be more prominent in the interstices. The cord sides are shorter on the adapical side and turreted on the abapical side. The outer lip is almost straight from the suture to its center and then convex to a rounded transition to the anterior canal. The columellar callus is concave from near the suture to the anterior tip and is narrow above the spiral folds and more raised below the second spiral fold. There are 4 significant spiral folds with a tangent to the tops a straight line. The shell exterior color is brown-red with many white blotches and streaks that are not confined to spiral cord tops. The interior of the aperture and columellar folds are brown-red with a white top of the columellar callus on some specimens.
