This species is a very wide mitrid (W/L = 0.43) with convex sides of spires having about 7 teleoconch whorls with convex sides. The spire is prominently shorter than the aperture length (S/A = 0.74). Suture is prominent due to change in slope at the suture and a convex, narrow shoulder. Dorsal notch is fairly prominent. The penultimate whorl has 6 or 7 wide, spiral cords separated by a narrow, spiral groove. Earlier whorls have a similar number of cords. Cords are crossed by narrow, convex riblets that are more narrow in the spiral grooves producing the fairly prominent pits in the grooves. Spiral cords on the body whorl continue to the fasciole but are weak to very weak centrally.
There is also a smooth form of this species. The fasciole is convex with about 7 convex, narrow spiral cords. The outer lip edge is fairly thin, almost straight centrally and convex near the shoulder and at the anterior where it transitions into the anterior canal with a wide convex curve. The columellar callus is very narrow but raised on the parietal wall and near the spiral folds. Spiral folds are very low with only two of note. The shell exterior is cream to pale yellow with irregular axial streaks crossing whorls. Fig. C has typical dark brown axial streaks while on fig. A they are grey on the body whorl, appearing to be faded. The anterior tip is brown in both specimens. The interior of the aperture has two wide brown bands confined to the lip margin. The columellar callus is brown on the anterior.
