Description

Shell rather large for the genus, fusiform, yellowish white. Protoconch (not from the type), yellowish, smooth and glassy, of 1 ½ whorls, no varix, but adult sculpture appearing quite abruptly. Mature whorls five, rounded, body whorl long, nearly two-thirds of the total length, sutures deep. Sculpture of elevated narrow axial ribs, slightly oblique, bending forward above the periphery to the suture, and about equal in width to the intercostal spaces. About 24 ribs appear on the body whorl, about 18 on the penultimate whorl. The spiral sculpture consists of fine threads, rather widely spaced, six visible on the penultimate whorl. Aperture long, about half the total length, outer margin with a varix. sinus shallow and rounded high on the shoulder and raised above the suture. Inner margin regularly curved, not twisted, with a thin band of callus, canal short and straight, its anterior margin rounded. Length about 13 mm., allowing for the missing protoconch, width 5.5 mm., aperture 6.5 mm.

Interchangeable taxa

This is closely related to Paraguraleus emina, but differs in its shorter aperture and the greater number of elevated axial ribs. The spiral sculpture is also less marked and the spirals farther apart.
