Description

Shell small, slender, subcylindrical, white, protoconch amber coloured. Protoconch with small erect rounded nucleus, the next whorl smooth and glassy, terminated by a sharp varix. Mature whorls four, slightly rounded, sutures shallow, the body whorl long, slightly constricted anteriorly. Sculpture of fine spiral threads with a few faint axial plications.
Aperture moderately wide, the outer margin straight, curved anteriorly, slightly inflected, sinus on the shoulder, moderately deep, rounded, with a slight callus pad on its posterior margin. Columella nearly straight, canal narrow and moderately deep. Length 5.6 mm., width 1.8 mm., aperture 2 mm.

Interchangeable taxa

In form and sculpture this is almost identical with A. hilum, but is larger with one more whorl, the texture is less translucent, the sculpture finer, and above all the protoconch has a smaller nucleus and is terminated by a varix.
