Description

This species closely resembles Morum {Onimusiro) grande (A ADAMS) (Kira: pl. 22, fig. 1) in shape and sculpture, but the body whorl of this shell is covered by numerous lamellate growth lines and has 15 longitudinal ribs and 15 spiral cords with narrow grooves between each two and forms spiny nodules at the crossing points, reducing below and developing above. The nodules in this species are less spinous than those of that species. The color is greyish yellow with pale brown broad bands. The aperture is narrow and long. The parietal callus is widely extend over the penultimate wall and the thickened outer margin is crenulated within. Type specimen measures 51.5 mm in height by 27.5 mm in breadth. Rarely comes from Tosa Bay, Shikoku at depths of 200-300 m. Onimusiro, a subgenus of the genus Morum substitutes Onisca SOWERBY 1852 non RODING 1798, and Oniscidia SWAINSON 1840 which was a misspelled name of Onisca.
