The shell is rather large, solid, elongated, inflated fusiform with an elevated conic spire of 7 whorls and a large body whorl, occupying three fourths of the length of shell. The surface of the body whorl has about 17 longitudinal ribs crossed by about 12 spiral cords forming nodules at the crossing points. The aperture is narrow and long with a very thick varicous outer margin toothed within and the widely extended parietal callus. The type specimen preserved in the National Science Museum, measures 55.5 mm in height by 32.3 mm in breadth, and comes from off Ashizuri-misaki, Kochi Pref., Shikoku. Very rare at a depth of about 200 m.
