Micali considers this species as a variety in colour of C. turritellata, while on CLEMAM it appears as a valid species. Recently in Oliver & Rolan (2008) it has been described again and valued as species valid at West African distribution, while the Mediterranean specimens should be ascribed to other species. As a matter of fact, the outline and the sculpture of these two entities are very similar ones: affinis is recognizable since it has a ground colouring pattern from dark yellow to brown, with lighter nodules, also the protoconch can be lighter. The average measures are abt. 6 mm.

Habitat: it was found into detrital sediments collected in low depths.
Distribution: this species is assigned to Mazzard (Messina - Sicily - Italy), Taormina (Sicily - Italy) and Pantelleria Is. (Sicily -Italy), but we think it is more widely distributed.
