Description

Shell thick, like the Arctic form figured by Dr. Kobelt from photo¬graphs of my type, but smaller and much darker in color. The operculum is disproportionately large for a Buccinum, nearly filling the aperture, and making a striking contrast with that of B. mbrchianum, which is always minute and much of the time absent entirely. (Dall.)
TYPE in United States National Museum. Type locality, Bering Island.
RANGE. Arctic Ocean north of Bering Sea.
