Aclis lata: Distribution: Texas, Gulf of Mexico; Caribbean. Size: 5 mm; specimen in photograph 1 mm. Description: Color translucent; shape conic; sculpture smooth with fine micro-scopic axial and spiral threads of equal strength, giving a latticelike appearance on teleoconch whorls; nuclear whorls smooth and bulbous; umbilicus distinct; aperture ovate.
Habitat: Calcareous environments.
Remarks: Small, smooth shell much like a species from the subgenus Heliacus; further work necessary for confirmation. Specimen in photograph collected from FGB at a depth of 24 m (78 ft). See Bartsch (1947); Ode (1987a).
